How Hunger Tale works

Our app is available in India.
  • Go to your home screen. You'll find different listings here
  • You can browse through these listings or search for a specific dish you are craving.
  • Once you find the dish of your choice, add it to the cart and proceed to checkout.
Once you check out, you'll need to add a payment method and consequently make a payment.
  • You'll find a button with a plus sign in the middle of the home screen's bottom navigation bar.
  • Tapping this button, you'll be able to create a listing of your food item, after which it'll be available in the hometab of the buyers and they'll be able to find and search it.
  • The hunger tale payment gateway releases payment to the seller once the buyer confirms that he has received the ordered items.
  • The only prerequisite is that the seller must have added an account to receive payment in his profile settings.
There are three different delivery methods:
  • Delivery: Delivery service is hired to deliver the food items to the customers.
  • Meet up: The customer will come to pick his order at the location you choose.
  • Free Shipping: The seller is responsible for delivering the food items to the customers.

Account

  • First you open up the hungertale app.
  • You will be asked to give the app permission to use your location, Please allow it.
  • Tap on the "Get Started" Button.
  • You will be prompted to enter your number.
  • Enter your phone number.
  • The app will send you an OTP code.
  • Please enter this OTP.
  • You will then be asked to enter your "First Name", "Last Name" and "Email" to sign up. You can also sign up using your Google or Facebook account.
No, each user can have only one unique account on hunger Tale platform. Any duplicate acccount will be deleted.
The process for verification is easy and straightforward. When you tap on the "Get started" button. You will be prompted to enter your phone number. Once you enter this number, Our App will send you an OTP code through a text message. Once you input this number in the App, Our App will know that it belongs to you.
  • You need to verify your phone number for your protection.
  • By phone verification, we make sure that you own the phone number you're providing.
  • Verification of your ownership is necessary since our App will send you a passcode every time you log in from a different device.
  • It will ensure that if another person has got your username and password, he cannot log in to your account since he won't have access to your phone's messages.
  • Another reason for asking for verification is that we want to create a trusting environment and ensure everyone's safety. Once you verify your phone, a phone-verified badge will appear on your profile. This badge will make everyone trust you and make you more reliable.
  • Only after this phone verification, you'll be able to list your items for selling through our app.
Every country has a specific number format. Whatever country you have chosen in your profile settings, you have to write your number in that country's number format. You must also make sure that the number you're using to create an account in Hungertales has not been used before to create a Hungertales account.
If you have lost your phone number or have changed your phone number. No need to worry! You can update it by following these steps:
Go to your Profile > Settings > Edit Profile.
No, we take your privacy seriously. Your phone no will be revealed to anyone publicly.
When your'e signing up on Hunger Tales, You should get a four-digit code used to verify that the number belongs to you. You will either get this code through an SMS message or by call.
  • If you're not getting this mobile phone verification code, then here are some points you can check before contacting our support.
  • Check that you've selected the correct country from the Country drop-down menu.
  • Check that you've entered the correct number according to your country's number format.
  • If you're in full-screen mode, Exit this mode and try again.
  • Click on the "Send again" button to prompt the App to resend the code to your phone.
If none of these options are working out for you, you can tap on "Contact Customer Support" to talk to our helpful customer support team. They will resolve the issue for you.
When you first sign up for "Hunger tales," you will be asked to do email verification. Once you enter your email, You will be sent a verification link on your email address. Tapping this link will verify that the email belongs to you.
If you can't see this email in your inbox, You will have to check your Junk or Spam folder, promotions, and social tab.
If you have not received the email anywhere, then you can request a new email.
Email verification is highly beneficial in case you forget your password. You can quickly recover your password. Once you have verified your email, and you forget your password. You can easily reset it using that email. Another advantage of having your email verified is that we can send all security notices or password reset emails to you.
Email verification will also add a badge to your Profile, making your account more credible.
Several countries provide a free of cost food licensing for small time chefs who wantes to sell cooked foods. Once this license is obtained, it can be uploaded in the profile and the user will receive a badge on the profile.
Go to Account -> Edit profile and upliad the food license/certificate.
Hunger Tale admin will review and user account will be will updated with HT badge.
Here are the steps you can follow to reset your password.
  • Click on the login button of the app.
  • Next, Tap the forget password.
  • Enter the registered email address.
  • We will send you a password resetting page link to your email.
  • Check your email to find this link.
  • Click on it and reset your password.
Your Profile is where you can show people your personality by telling them about your hobbies and interests. If your Profile looks interesting, people will be more inclined to doing business with you.
You shouldn't include hateful, derogatory, misogynistic, racist, or political comments that might be offensive to some people in your profile settings.
Directing sales outside "Hunger Tales" is strictly prohibited.
For "Safety and security" reasons, Do not include your personal contact information like your Phone no, Gmail, and Facebook id in your profile description and profile name.
User can chose any alphanumeric username for their profile.
If a username you like seems taken, you can modify it by adding numbers, underscores, and periods to help you come up with an available username.
You may contact our team and report with relevant proof when a username violates our terms and policies to claim or remove a username.
Hungertales has some policies regarding choosing a username. If a user's name is found violating our policies, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate his account.
  • In the bottom navigation bar of the home screen, you'll find a button for opening account settings; Tap this button.
  • The first option you'll get will be "My profile".
  • After going to "My profile" page, you'll be able to change your username.
  • After Choosing a valid username, tap on done.
  • Make sure that the username you choose doesn't violate our policies. If the username you choose doesn't violate our policies, then you'll be able to pick it unless some user of "Hunger tales" has already taken it up before you.
Your username is not permanent. You can change it anytime, but your new username must not be already in use by another "Hunger tales" User.
You can register a new email with your "Hunger Tales" App. The only prerequisite is that you must own this new email.
  • Go to the account tab from the navigation bar below.
  • The first option in the list will be "profile" settings.
  • Here you'll find the option to register a new email.
  • Once you enter your new email, "Hunger Tales" will send the new verification link to this email address.
  • Once you click on this email, this new email will be registered with your "Hunger Tales" account.

  • The first option in the list will be "profile" settings.
  • At the top of your screen, you'll see a circle with a plus sign. After you tap on it, You will get two options: Upload a photo on your phone or take a photo using your phone's camera.
  • Choose whichever option suits you and upload a new photo.
  • This photo will be associated with your profile and publicly visible.
Your username is not permanent. You can change it anytime, but your new username must not be already in use by another "Hunger tales" User."Hunger Tales" encourages you to be as creative and innovative as you want. Your profile picture could be a logo of your brand or your picture. However, whichever image you decide to use, make sure that the image doesn't infringe on any person's identity or copyright. Furthermore, the image shouldn't be offensive in any way. It shouldn't have anything sexual, discriminating, derogatory to any gender or race in it
It is not possible to change the country location. Each unique phone number linked to the account can be only used in that particular country.
Here are the steps you can follow to reset your password.
  • Tap on the login button of the app
  • Next, tap the forget password.
  • Enter the registered email address.
  • We will send you a password resetting page link to your email.
  • Check your email to find this link.
No option to change notifications in profile settings.
We hold the power to suspend your account if it doesn't comply with our policies and terms of service to maintain a safe and trusted environment. Make sure to read our policies and terms of service before using our application.
Go to Hunger tale App (IOS and Android) and login using your username and password. You also have the option to login using your Facebook account or Gmail account if you have used either of these accounts to sign up on "Hunger tales".
  • To log out of your hungertales account, Tap on the account button on the bottom navigation bar's extreme right, visible on the home screen.
  • At the bottom, you'll find the option to logout of your session on "Hunger tales."
  • Go to the account tab from the navigation bar below.
  • In the list of options that appear, You'll find the second last option labeled "Deactivate account".
  • Tap on this option to deactivate your account.
Login to the "Hunger tales" app with your username and password, You will be asked if you want to reactivate your account. Tap on the reactivate button to have your account reinstated.

Selling

There are three types/categories of listing you can do when you want to sell your food item in our online food shop.
  • Advance Orde
  • Anyday order
  • Meals/ Tiffin
Pre Order: In this category of listing, customers can pre-book their order for a particular date.
Anyday order: In this category of listing, customers can receive the order on the same day of booking it.
Daily Meals/ Tiffin: In this listing category, the customer can order a meal as breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
You can use the dish type form field to specify which category the dish is falling into. Specify whether the food item is chicken, beef, or non-veg? Is it spicy, or are the spices low?
There are three different delivery methods:
Delivery: Delivery service is hired to deliver the food items to the customers.
Meet up: The customer will come to pick his order at the location you choose.
Free Shipping: The seller is responsible for delivering the food items to the customers.

There is an option to update your current location on the top of the home screen, just below your name and cart option.
Alternatively, if you're choosing meetup as a delivery option while making a listing, then you can also update your current location there.
Address book in account page or during posting.
Yes, It is mandatory to add the dish, food item images every time you make a new listing.
  • Same day Order
  • Pre-Order:
    • In the pre-order category of the Listing, We ask you to choose a date. Your Listing is only valid till this date. After this date, the Listing is auto-deleted or archived.
    • Our app will show an expiry date of the Listing once you make it. Hunger tale will display this date in grey, and won't allow the seller to change it.
    • Same day Order
    • A date form field allows the seller to choose the date till when the Listing is valid.
    • With this category of Listing, the seller can also choose one date
    • For this category of Listing, the date selected has to be within one month of the Listing's creation. Our app will grey out all dates falling beyond one month of creating the Listing.
    Daily Meals/Tingkat/Tiffin:
    • In this category of Listing, You can select a range of dates. You get to choose a starting date and an ending date.
    • The Listing is valid during the entire range of dates selected.
    • Once you select this range of dates, it'll not be editable, and our app will display the chosen range in grey.
    • Once the seller makes a successful listing, Our app sends a notification to the seller in messages or the app's activity screen.
    • Any edit or deletion of the Listing is only possible if there are no orders placed on it.
    • Once you click on a listing, a new screen showing the details of the Listing will appear.
    • You can edit your listing or delete it from here.
  • Same day Order
  • Every seller gets to make a certain number of listings free of cost. The admin of the app controls the number of listings given to each user. If the user has finished or used up his quota of free listings, he can buy a subscription package to make more listings.

    Every seller gets to make a certain number of listings free of cost. The admin of the app controls the number of listings given to each user. If the user has finished or used up his quota of free listings, he can buy a subscription package to make more listings.
    Yes, You can sell from past listings.
    • Click on the past Listing you created, which you want to create a new listing from.
    • You will get two options; either you can post it again without any changes or edit and post again.
    • If you choose to edit and post again, You'll be allowed to change/update different features of the Listing like the quantity, price, date etc
    • After the update, you can post this edited past Listing as a new listing from your account.

    Sellers have multiple options to get payment from buyers. The only prerequisite is that the buyer must confirm that they have received their order.

    Here are the ways through which a seller can take payments:
    • Cash payments: This option is available when the buyer has chosen the meetup option to collect their order.
    • Payment Digital Account: Seller can have multiple accounts on which he can receive payment. He can also choose an account as a default option.
    • Bank account : The seller can also use his bank account to collect payments.Stripe payment gateway is also provided for the seller to receive payments.

    Go to user account settings. You'll see the payment book options. Choose any of these methods to take payments:

    You're not able to make a new listing for any of all of the following reasons:
    • You have not filled all the mandatory form fields to make a new listing.
    • You've used certain words which violate our policies or some characters which aren't allowed in a particular form field.
    • You're uploading images in an unsupported format or ones which are restricted.
    We may suspend your product listing if you've used images or words which violate our policies and our administration has restricted them.

    • The Fee for buying more listings than your quota.
    • The Fee for buying a delivery subscription, by which Hunger tale becomes responsible for delivering orders to your customers.
    • The Fee for promoting a listing and getting it more visibility on the app.
    • Once the seller makes a successful listing, Our app sends a notification to the seller in messages or the app's activity screen.
    • Deletion of the Listing is only possible if there are no orders placed on it.
    • Once you click on a listing, a new screen showing the details of the Listing will appear.
    • You can delete it from here.
    If your product has been delisted, you can contact Hunger Tale Support.
    • They will notify you of why they removed your listing.
    • Deletion of the Listing is only possible if there are no orders placed on it.
    • They might propose you a set of amendments to your listings, which will restore your listings.
    There is no review process for a new listing unless some other user reports it.
    You can increase your quota for listing by buying a subscription package.
    You can either buy a subscription package by pressing the manage quota button displayed on
    the listings screen or simply pressing the promote button displayed next to each listing.
    • Trial package - 30 listings.
    • Monthly package- any number of listing for next 30 days.
    • Unlimited package - any number of listings for 365 days.
    • Coupon based Quota package - free X number of listing based on coupon Admin reserves the right to give any user free subscription coupon.
    You can either buy a subscription package from the user account or press the promote button next to each listing.
    • Delivery Basic Package - 10 free deliveries to customer.
    • Delivery Advance Package - 30 free deliveries to customers.
    • Unlimited package - any number of listings for 365 days.
    • Coupon based delivery package - free X number of free deliveries based on coupon Admin reserves the right to give any user a free subscription coupon.
    You can promote your items by buying a promotional package. It will enable you to promote your listings on the home screen's top results. Your listings will appear at the top, and buyers will be more likely to purchase your food items.

    To promote your listings on the app's home screen, you can buy a promotion package from the user account or by pressing the promote button displayed on each listing.

    Here are the different packages you can buy:
    • Trial package - You can promote 10 listings.
    • Basic package - You can promote 30 listings.
    • Monthly package- any number of listing for next 30 days.
    • Unlimited package - any number of listings for 365 days.
    • Coupon based -3 days promotion for a single item
    Admin reserves the right to give free promotion coupon to any user.
    If the seller isn't providing free delivery then a delivery fee will be calculated by the app's API based on your location and shown before you checkout.
    A very small Transaction fee is paid by customer for usage of Hunger Tale platform. This amount can be seen during the check-out and is part of the payment invoice.
    In the description, you can specify what ingredients are used to make your food item? How delicious it tastes? Its other benefits and features.
    Items which is banned , needs authorization for sale or not related to homemade food.
    You can promote your items by buying a promotional package. It will enable you to promote your listings on the home screen's top results and the recommended seller's section. Your listings will appear at the top, and buyers will be more likely to purchase your food items.

    • Pressing this button, you'll be able to create a listing of your food item, after which it'll be available in the hometab of the buyers and they'll be able to find and search it.
    • Check the status of your order after tapping on the activity icon in the bottom navigation bar.
    • Once the order has been completed, You can review the order and leave a rating based on its quality and taste.
    (for seller)
    • Once someone places an order on your listing, You will get a notification that someone has placed an order.
    • You have two options; you can either accept it or cancel it by tapping a button on the message.
    • You will get this notification in the form of a message displayed in the chat window.
    • You can navigate to the chat window by tapping on the chat button in the bottom navigation bar.
    Seller is not obligned to accept any cancellation once the order is accpted. Buyer can only make the request to seller for any such cancellation and it is upto seller’s consideration for the final decision.

    Buying

    • When you are in the application's home tab, You can choose to order different food items.
    • Here, you can also search for the food dish you're interested in.
    • We have created different categories like recommended food, top-selling pre-ordered food, and best home-cooked food
    • We will suggest you different food items with high demand in these categories.
    • Scrolling to the bottom, you'll also be able to browse through the entire listings available on our app.
    • Just tap on the item of your choosing. Our app will take you to the product page, where its elaborate details will be available.
    • From this page, you can add your chosen item to your cart.
    User can select items from as many sellers as they would like. In the cart , items are cosnolidated at seller level and payment can be done all at once.
    There is an option to update your current location during purchange cart as well ad the account address book.
    After 24 hours, items are auto removed from the cart if not purchased.
    There is an option to update your current location from the purchase cart during delivery selection.
    Date and time can be set from ppurchase cart during delivery selection.
    If the seller doesn't provide free delivery then you have two options to choose from:

    Meet up: You mutually agree on a location with the seller to pick up your food items and make the payment.

    Delivery: You pay an extra amount to hunger tale, and we take the responsibility of bringing the food items to your location.
    • When you proceed to checkout, You'll be asked to choose your mode of payment.
    • Once you decide, you want to make a payment through a credit card.
    • You'll be asked to enter your card's number, passcode, and expiry date.
    • After this, your order will be registered on our app.
    On making the payment, the payment is kept safe with hunger tale. It is also transferred to the seller upon you confirming that you've received the order.
    User has Edit options to add/remove items, change quanitity etc from the cart.
    • First, you'll have to tap on the activity button in the bottom navigation bar.
    • Tapping this button will direct you to the activity screen.
    • You'll have the option to view all your order's status by tapping on the "order status" button on the activity screen's top navigation bar.
    • Your order's confirmation depends on the Seller.
    • Once you place an order and make the payment, the Seller can choose whether to accept the order or not.
    Once you place an order, a notification is sent to the seller that you've placed an order with him. He has the option to either accept this order or decline it. Before he accepts this order, you can easily cancel the order without his consent. However, once he accepts the order, you can only "REQUEST cancellation" and won't cancel the order without seller's consent.
    We will refund your payment if the seller doesn't accept the order within 60 minutes of order placement.
    Once you place an order, a notification is sent to the seller that you've placed an order with him. He has the option to either accept this order or decline it. Before he accepts this order, you can easily cancel the order without his consent. However, once he accepts the order, you can only "REQUEST cancellation" and won't cancel the order without seller's consent.

    Payment and transaction

    Go to user account settings. You'll see the payment book options. Choose any of these methods to make payments:

    Once you dispatch the order and the customer receives it. He'll mark the status of the order as received. At this moment, your payment will be released to you.
    No, you don't get payment as soon as you dispatch the order.
    Once you dispatch the order and the customer receives it. He'll mark the status of the order as received. At this moment, your payment will be released to you.
    Seller receive the payment after 24 hours of:
    • Seller set the status of order as “Delivered“
    • And/or Buyer set the status of order as “Received“
    Customer will make delivery payments on top of the cost of the food items cost if the seller is not providing free delivery.
    If the seller has subscribed to a delivery subscription of hunger tale then seller would be making a payment to Hunger tale for getting his items delivered to customers.
    You can make the payment in cash if you've agreed to meet up with the seller to get your food items.

    Delivery

    Delivery subscription is when you buy a package from hunger tale to assist in delivery services. Hunger tale takes the responsibility to deliver your order to customers. The number of deliveries Hunger tale will provide for you will depend on the delivery subscription package you've purchased.
    You can either buy a subscription package from the user account or press the promote button next to each listing.
    • Delivery Basic Package - 10 free deliveries to customer
    • Delivery Advance Package - 30 free deliveries to customers
    • Coupon based delivery package - free X number of free deliveries based on coupon Admin reserves the right to give any user a free subscription coupon.

    AS a buyer, you can make delivery payments on top of your total order cost at checkout either by credit card or debit card. If the seller is providing free delivery, you won't have to worry about paying additional delivery costs.

    If you've chosen the meetup option for delivery, you can also pay in cash.
    You can make the payment in cash if you've agreed to meet up with the seller to get your food items.
    In the cart before proceeding with payment, user get the option to chose the delivery date and time for the receiving the items.
    App's API will calculate charges of the delivery based on your location and other factors.
    It is upto the seller to provide Free Delivery based on their posting.

    Messaging

    Once the payment has been made, a message is sent to both buyer and seller. The buyer gets the message that the order has been placed. He also gets the option to cancel the order. The buyer receives this message for each order he places.

    As a seller, whenever a buyer makes the payment to buy from you. You get a message notifying you about his order. You have two options. You can either accept his order or decline it by simply tapping a button.
    If you don't accept the order within 60 minutes of the buyer placing the order, the buyer will get refunded, and your order will automatically get canceled.
    • In the bottom navigation bar of the home screen, you'll find an option to view all chats done through our app.
    • You can only chat with people who've given you order or whom you have given an order.
    Yes, You can add pictures in your chat messages.
    No, you cannot share any contact information with other users, and you must keep all communication inside the hungertale platform for everyone's safety and security.
    By clicking the 3 dot button at the top of the user's profile screen, you'll be able to report him. Select any of the following reasons to report a person:
    • Scam
    • Food Quality
    • Offensive chat/behavior
    • Direct transaction outside HT
    • Other ( Enter free text)
    • Attached supporting image
    Hunger tale doesn't allow you to delete messages. Messages are deleted automatically after 30 days have passed.
    • First, you'll have to tap on the activity button in the bottom navigation bar.
    • Tapping this button will direct you to the activity screen.
    • You'll have the option to view all your order's status by tapping on the "order status" button on the activity screen's top navigation bar.
    • In the activity screen, click on the order status button.
    • You'll see the order status changed to dispatched when it has been shipped to you.

    It is highly recommended that you mark the order as dispatched. If you've not marked the order as shipped and the customer doesn't mark the order as received, Hunger tale will automatically cancel the order and refund the customer. If you've marked the order as dispatched and the customer has not marked the order as received, your order will be considered complete after 24 hours.

    it is recomendded to do so , incase seller also do not confirm the item received then payment will not be released.
    but if seller set status to dispatch then amount is released within 24 hours

    • Paid: Order ID created upon payment (Payment is made to HT account) - Order Staus Payment Made
    • Confirmed: Seller Confirm the Orer - Order Status " Confirmed) , Quanitity from ads is reduced
    • Dispatched: Delivery Picks the item - Order Status " Dispatched" , Incase of Meet-up , order still as confirmed
    • Delivered: Upon item receiving by customer - Order Status "Delivered" , in case of Meet-up and free delivery, Seller can also set the status as delivered .
    • Closed: After 24 hrs of order receiving - Order status " Closed" , money transfered from HT to Seller

    If you do not mark the order as received within 24 hrs and the order has not been marked dispatched by the seller, you will get refunded.

    If the seller has marked the order as dispatched and you do not mark it as received. The order will be marked complete after 24 hrs.

    Notification and Activities

    In the activity screen, click on the order status button. From here, you can see the status of your orders.
    You can see all the activities in the application by tapping the activities button in the bottom navigation bar, including:

    Review/Feedback: you can review an item you've purchased or a seller you've purchased from.
    Order/Status: You can see your order's status, whether it has been dispatched or is being processed. You can also see here if an order has been canceled.
    Sold History: From here, you can see all the items you've sold so far.
    Purchase History: From here, you can see all the items you've purchased so far.
    Refund dispute: If you've filed for a refund, you can see the progress of your dispute from here.
    You can see the history of bought items by tapping the activities button in the bottom navigation bar on the home screen and selecting the "Purchase History" button.

    Seller can buy available delivery subcription with Hunger Tale Delivery partner to provide Free Shipping to it’s customers.

    Every user who reffer Hunger Tale to another success user, gets a one time reward. Please see details on the available rewards.
    Promo code can be seen via email or notification at each user’s profile.

    Cancellation and Refunds

    Once the payment has been made, a message is sent to both buyer and Seller. The buyer gets the message that the order has been placed. He also gets the option to cancel the order. The buyer receives this message for each order he places. The Seller also receives this message, and he has the option to either accept the order or cancel it. Whatever he chooses, the buyer receives notification through another message.
    No, you can send the pictures/videos of the proof directly to seller. Seller will eaither arrange to pick-up the item or refund.

    Once you place an order, a notification is sent to the seller that you've placed an order with him. He has the option to either accept this order or decline it. Before he accepts this order, you can easily cancel the order without his consent. If he doesn't accept the order within 60 minutes of placing it. Order will automatically be cancelled and you'll be refunded.

    However, once he accepts the order, you can only "REQUEST cancellation" and won't cancel the order without seller's consent.

    If he doesn't respond to this cancellation request, you can report or dispute the order with the Hunger tale support team.

    Hunger Tale release the money within 24 hours of the requests. Depending on the Bank processing time , it can take 3-4 working days.
    Pictures, Videoa and chat messages are good proofs to be submited for refund/return requests.

    It is recommended that you accept the buyer's cancellation request unless the order is ready to be shipped.
    Within 24 hrs of Order status changed to dispatched or received, Refund needs to be initiated. Once the order is closed, Refund is not possible
    When you reject a buyer's cancellation request, the buyer can dispute the order with hunger tale customer support.
    When you accept the buyer's cancellation request, the buyer gets refunded.
